Cradle Position

The most traditional and common position. The mother holds the baby in her arms, with the baby's body resting on her forearm and the head supported by her hand or arm. The baby is positioned on its side, with the head close to the breast. The mother should ensure the baby is well-aligned to facilitate proper latch and sucking.

Football Hold (or "Under the Arm" Position)

In this position, the mother holds the baby under her arm, with the baby's body turned sideways and the face close to the breast. The mother's arm supports the baby's body, and the baby may be helped by a pillow for additional comfort. This position is particularly useful for mothers who have had a cesarean section or for breastfeeding twins.

Side-Lying Position

In this position, both the mother and the baby lie on their sides. The mother reclines slightly, and the baby is brought close to the breast, with their body aligned and supported by the mother's arm. This position is relaxing and can be ideal for night-time feedings.
